July 2010 Calendar
Happy Fourth of July!
Why do we encourage you to celebrate our nation's
birthday? Because the United States has always
represented religious freedom to those who seek it.
As Jews, as a people who have been kicked from
one country to the next throughout our history,
not to mention the atrocities inflicted against us,
America has served as both a refuge and an
opportunity for religious expression .
And because of America's support of
our beloved Israel, we are twice blessed.
We hope you will take a moment from your
barbeque and fireworks to give thanks to
our nation on its birthday and reflect on what
it has
meant to us as Jews.
With the onset of July, we have moved into the second
half of the year 2010. Hard to believe half the year is
gone already. What have you done with it? What have you
done to better your inner and outer life?...and the lives of others?
Even if only the ones closest to you?
How many New Year's resolutions have you kept?
Here is an opportunity to reinvigorate yourself your aims and
idaels. Our July Calendar is thick with great learning
opportunities to make the second half of this year meaningful
and successful., rich and invigorating.
Start it today with resolve, with new habits, and use this month's
calendar as the vehicle to get you there:
Sunday, July 4th
10:00 AM Torah Learning Class and free bagel breakfast.
Join us for an hour of learning Torah. No prior knowledge
or experience is required...yes really!
We have lots of fun, with many opinions expressed and actually
learn Torah in the process. Refresh yourself with
our free bagel breakfast with coffee, spreads
and other goodies.
11:00 AM Worship Services Lesson: "Realizing Your
Possibilities" Wouldn't it be wonderful to realize your
potential and the possibilities before you? Like many
of us, there are those who don't know how to go
about it, or even get started. Today you will
learn exactly what you need to know. So join us and get
the second half of the year off to an amazing start!...
and bring a friend with you.
Sunday, July 11th
10:00 AM Torah Learning Class and Free Breakfast
Join us in the learning and meaning of this week's
Torah portion. Do you need to know Hebrew to attend?
No.
While some of the class is in Hebrew to reference
the Torah portion, the class is almost entirely in English.
Here you can learn in a language you understand.
11:00 AM Worship Services This week our lesson is:
"What Does God Say To Man?"
Do you think God does not speak to you? If you
read the Holy Scriptures you will see that God is
talking to almost everyone. If you don't think God is talking
to you, it may be that you need to stop and listen a little.
There are few other things that will help, and here is the
place to learn them...and then you will hear God too...
and maybe have conversations with Him like
Moses and our
forefathers did.
Sunday, July 18th
10:00 am: Torah Learning Class and Free Breakfast
Were you one of those children who couldn't wait for
Sunday School Class to be over? If you were, you might want
to rethink this, because learning Torah is actually fun and
inspiring and guiding. Now that we're adults it has a
whole new meaning. Worst case scenario: you'll make friends
with great people, have an enjoyable breakfast, and have
fun expressing your opinion whether you know anything
about Torah or not. So what have you got to lose?
11:00 am: Worship Services This week our lesson is:
"How To Begin The Day."
Ask people who know, and they'll tell you: "The beginning of
something sets the tone for the rest of it." And if ever this adage
applied to anything, it is about how we begin our day, and how that
beginning sets the tone for the rest of the day.
How we begin our day is mostly a habit, and new habits
can be formed any time we wish. It just takes awareness
and desire. Today's lesson will get you on track
right away...so come and take advantage of a good
thing. And bring a friend with you.
Sunday, July 25th
10:00 am Free Breakfast and Torah Learning Class
Join us in a pleasant atmosphere with wonderful people
who have one thing in common, we want to learn about the
people and stories in the Torah and express our opinions
doing it. An interactive class for sure.
Then join us for:
11:00 am Worship Services Today our Lesson is:
"Rewards of Religion."
If you think that religion holds out nothing in the way of practicality
for you, THINK AGAIN! The Scriptures hold almost every human
condition we can think of. Wouldn't be nice to know them so
when they occur in our own lives we have a response, and answer
for them? And what about the power of personal prayer...where
can that take us in our secular world? What else can we learn
from religion? Ethics and morality, How to tell right from wrong,
how to find happiness...the opportunities are vast.
Here is a way to end July with and exclamation point,
make it your point to be here.
